This is for ONE growing Pregnant onion.
One picture in the corner is of a mother pregnant onion.(She is not for sale)
The other is about the size of a 1.00 inch and it has began producing babies..
It is about 9 months old.
You are receiving a bigger start of this p.o. and you save much time.
Plant it and and when it grows bigger, it has more babies.
It is Nicknamed-"Pregnant Onion"-for obvious reasons-Ornithogalum longibracteatum or sometimes Ornithogalum caudatum.
It grows from a bulb you plant with soil just covering the roots, so that bulb is above soil level.
The adult looks like a big round onion and strange is that it will grow the offsets (babies) under its outer skin-you can see it through the skin, and it will grow several at a time-
Plant this PO and and soon you will have a large bulb growing.
P.O.'s have very long spear shaped leaves, that flow out over a pot, making a lush potted plant for a patio or a porch.
They also grow great around a pond as they will grow in most soils-they are very hardy.
This is fun for children to grow their own plant-they are fascinated by all the babies growing inside the skin of the mother plant.
