The color or sex doesn't really matter, it just needs to be super cute like a puppy. We just lost Eddie, who was the cutest little 1 1/2 year old brown and white papillon. I want another one desperately. I've got rid of three different dogs before him due to not being potty trained before we got them. The dog needs to be good tempered around children. I have three kids ages 2, 6, and 9. They're all great with little dogs.
